Discord Phone Verification — Skip Using Your Real Number

You're trying to join a server. Click the invite. Discord says: "Verify your phone number to continue." Maybe it's a crypto server with strict gates. Maybe your account got flagged for joining too many communities too fast. Either way — you need a number, and you don't want to hand over your personal cell.

Discord's phone policy (as of June 2026)

Discord requires phone verification for certain servers (owner-enabled setting) and for accounts that trip anti-abuse heuristics. Their support docs explicitly state that VoIP numbers "may not work." They're not kidding — TextNow and Google Voice get rejected constantly.

Real mobile routes from SmsBuyz cost about $0.31 per activation. US and UK numbers have the highest pass rate in my experience. Indonesian routes are cheaper but Discord rejects them more often.

Walkthrough

Open SmsBuyz. Find Discord in the service list. Buy a US or UK number. Copy the full international format (+1..., +44...).

In Discord: User Settings → My Account → Phone Number → Add. Paste the number. Wait for SMS.

Code shows in SmsBuyz. Enter it. Server gate opens. The 20-minute activation window is usually plenty — Discord SMS arrives in under a minute when it works.

When Discord says no

"Invalid phone number" — wrong country or burned route. Switch to US/UK.

"This number is already registered" — that SIM was used on another Discord account. Discord limits one account per phone number (with rare exceptions). You need a fresh route.

Account still restricted after verification — phone verify solved the gate, but Discord flagged your account separately. Phone numbers don't fix trust-and-safety holds.
