Instagram Verification with a Virtual Number

Meta tightened phone verification again in early 2026. New accounts, suspicious login attempts, ad account recovery — Instagram asks for your number more often than it used to. And if you've already linked your personal SIM to your main account, you're stuck using a different number for anything else.

Virtual numbers solve that. Not permanently — these are one-time activations — but for the 60 seconds Instagram needs to send a 6-digit code, they work perfectly.

How I do it

SmsBuyz → Instagram → country → buy. I usually go Indonesia or Vietnam for price; US if I'm targeting American followers and want the +1 prefix on the account metadata.

Enter the number in Instagram's prompt. Code hits the SmsBuyz dashboard — copy, paste, verify. The whole interaction takes maybe 90 seconds when the route is healthy.

After verification, go to Settings → Accounts Center and review what's linked. Instagram lets you hide your phone number from your profile even after adding one.

Common failures (and fixes)

"This phone number isn't valid." Route burned. Try a different country — don't retry the same number.

Code expired. Instagram's OTP times out fast. Request a new code before your 20-minute SmsBuyz window closes.

Checkpoint loop. Meta flagged your IP or device, not the number. Switch networks or wait 24h. A new virtual number won't bypass a device ban.

Need non-VoIP routes for higher success rates? Instagram's HLR checks are real but less aggressive than WhatsApp. Most SmsBuyz SIM routes pass fine.
